You pose some interesting questions. I am among those who have a facebook page and I do use twitter. However, I am new to both of these and have not really gotten into how they work. I feel that I am talented enough to use the computer but am unsure how some of these networking sites really work. Thank you for sharing this post.

Thanks for the response!

I find that I have to water down the already-censored online version of myself in order to keep people from blowing things completely out of proportion. Also, my friend and I learned last week that you should be careful about posting updates about your plans for the evening - random people will invite themselves along for the ride.

Ironically, these tools which were designed to enable communication actually hinder it.

Great post! I have both myspace and facebook, but refuse to get sucked into Twitter (for now). I'm pretty selective of what I post on either site, but some people post rather intimate details of their lives, stuff I really don't need or want to know.

I do love snail mail (except for when it's all bills!) and I enjoyed a nice chat with my cousin today whom I have not seen in a few years. It was great to catch up with him and I really should do that more often.

Obama is indeed another politician playing the same old game, which is why, while I have faith that things will improve during his administration, I do not think that we will see the wide sweeping CHANGE that was his platform. He is neither the Messiah his supporters tote him to be nor the Socialist downfall his critics consider him. Barack Obama is a man and a politician, so I agree with you there.

It's also likely that the same people are advising him on national security. I personally would like to see some new faces in those positions.

I think the same national security people who advised Bush are advising Obama.

That or Obama is just another fucking politician.

Likely, both are true.

My goat and I were thinking about that yesterday - what happens when someone sends you child pornography without your consent? What if you can't tell how old the individual in the photograph is? I'm not sure, legally, exactly how that works, but I can see how easily someone's life could be completely ruined over a wrong number or a joke gone wrong.

Welcome to Today.com! I hope to see you around some more.

The thing that gets me is that in some of these cases, the person who's received the picture didn't even ask for it. In some cases these pictures are sent around (sadly) from person to person. Sure, the pictures should be deleted but how many of us delete texts on a regular basis?

Very nice post! I'm new around here and hope to be back to read more!

I do have an understanding of OCD because I have met individuals who truly suffer from the disorder (I have also done extensive research on the difference between OCD and impulse control disorders). I was making a point about making flip remarks about OCD and using two common stereotypes as an example. Perhaps that was not the best way to illustrate what I was saying.

My goal here is not to tell people their statements are invalid; I am simply asking people to stop making light of serious ailments with flippant remarks. We are, in effect, saying the same thing here. Maybe if more people understood more facets (I won't expect anyone but a trained mental health professional to understand ALL facets, and even that is a stretch) of disease, they would not be so quick to throw around half-joking self-diagnoses.

I wonder if the slight discrepancy is some sort of guard to thwart would-be stalkers? Or is it a glitch in the software?
